An Old Poem I found! :D
I just found this poem that I wrote back in May of 2008. I wrote it about a picnic that a big group of us had down at some friends' land. It was so fun!! And it makes me happy remembering the fun we had while I read this poem! yay! Hope you enjoy…
Karnack Picnic
The sun rose up to start the day
Picnic fun was on its way
Time to shoot, eat, laugh, and play
Down at the Karnack Picnic
All the friends soon gathered round
Some from country, some from town
Bang! The guns put forth their sound
Down at the Karnack picnic
Wham! The ball comes flying past
Volleyball players gather fast
Time to play, At last, At last!
Down at the Karnack picnic
Being bucked off Bonny Blue
Taking pictures of people too
Petting the kitten, cool stuff to do
Down at the Karnack picnic
Singing hymns, endorsing Paul
Swimming, mudding, we had it all
Fishing, eating, and more volleyball
All at the Karnack picnic

The Adventures of “Granny” :D
The warm morning sun shines
Through my window and onto my face
It's a wonderful, lovely feeling
Yet it is still so commonplace
Birds chirp their songs outside
But nothing to really tickle my ear
Nothing like the sounds of the wild
That I used to wake up and hear
Not like the shrieks of birds
Hidden in the rain forest trees
Or the rustling of some mysterious creature
Tucked away in the leaves
I slip out of bed
Put my feet on the floor
I have walked on more interesting
Terrain before
Like the dunes of Egypt
Or the Savannah plains
I can still feel the tug
Of the camel's reigns
Nothing awaits me much
Once I come out of my room
Whereas all sorts of wild things
In times past, around corners would loom
I have an appointment today
So I'm helped into the car
My thoughts are suddenly
Drifted off far
I'm now, in my mind
Hearing a trumpeting trunk
As I ride on an elephant
It feels like I've shrunk
What a magnificent creature!
So large and so strong
From here to the car, I slowly drift back
I was sad that I didn't stay there very long
When we get to the building
We go a few stories high
But I remember a time
It seemed I could nearly touch the sky
On the top of the great tower
In the middle of France
The moon was near our fingertips
And the stars seemed to dance
I know that my memories
Will never be unfurled
I will always cherish
My trips round the world!

This is actually my friends' grandmother but she is SO great…I call her Granny too! :) Her and her husband (and their little girls when they were born) went around the world several times. She has told me some great stories!

Finally: A POEM!! :D
Hey everyone! I have finally done it...I have finally written another poem!!! I have been thinking about writing something like this for some time but never have gotten around to it until a little while ago...so I hope you enjoy this list of a few of my favorite things...P.S. I don't think you can sing this to the Sound of Music tune...sorry....I already tried!! lol ;D ~Allix
My Favorite Things
Quiet times with God early in the morning
Prayer time alone and with beloved brethren
Hearing God's Word preached and God's children sing
These are a few of my favorite things
Cooking, and sewing, and laughing with Mama
Being her best friend while she is mine too
The memories we make, silly stuff that we do
These are a few of my favorite things
Staying up late with my big sister, Holly
While we tell stories and secrets galore
Having great times must be what sisters are for
These are a few of my favorite things
Feeding Robinson Crusoe and watching him sleep
When puppies wake up: their warm dry noses
And yes I love when there are raindrops on roses
These are a few of my favorite things
Taking pictures of the wide world around me
Reading books filled with stories from times long ago
From places far away where one day I might go
These are a few of my favorite things
Laughing, and talking, and sharing with friends
Remembering old times with family you love
Thanking God for both that He's blessed us with from above
These are a few of my favorite things
Remembering the softness of Gran-Nanny's arm
Cherishing moments that are here and then gone
You don't want to forget them so you've got to hang on
These are a few of my favorite things
Hearing Mam-maw play the piano so well
Or Daddy on the guitar: it always makes me smile
Moments when you sit and let every sound save these drift away for awhile
These are a few of my favorite things
Paw-Paw's Sprite pancakes on Saturday morning
His clothes that still have the Bakery smell
The stories of when I was small that he tells
These are a few of my favorite things
Music that's peaceful, funny or a comforting tune
Music is truly a powerful thing
The memories it stirs up, the emotions it brings
These are a few of my favorite things
The WONDER of God tucked away in small places
Like butterfly wings and tiny bee stingers
Each drop of the ocean and curled baby fingers
These are a few of my favorite things
The accomplished feeling when a poem is done
When you reread it and sigh with relief when it's through
And all that's left is hearing what other's think of it
(that means readers like you!)
These are a few of my favorite things!
