A Poem about…

Life
Life is a vapor; here today
And gone tomorrow they all say
So before this vapor fades away
What will you do to seize the day?

Since tomorrow isn't promised to us
And blood won't forever be running through us
Why waste the days that God gave to us
By being selfish and superfluous?

Let's treasure the days that soon will flee
Like when babies are sleeping, soft and sweet
Or when autumn comes and paints the leaves
When coffee brews or rich warm tea

When the sun is shining hot and bright
Or stars look extra great at night
Days when blue birds sing in flight
Dreams of True Love at first sight

To be carefree like little boys
Content with all their boyhood joys
Always thinking up tricks and ploys
Boots, grass stains, and army toys

Cherish times with family dear
Know they won't always be here
Laugh with friends, keep them near
Don't be ashamed of happy tears

Wedding days, so filled with bliss
The groom, the bride, the rings, the kiss
These are times that you will miss
Bask in this magical happiness

Melting ice-cream in a cone
Thinking while you're all alone
Long conversations on the phone
Bundling in quilts that are hand-sewn

Bubbling brooks, big tall trees
Sandy beaches near aqua seas
Red-brown horses running free
Puppy noses, ears, and feet

Writing in a journal maybe no one will read
Watching a plant grow from a tiny seed
Trusting the Lord and letting Him lead
Feeling His love when His word you read

Traveling around the world and then
Going back around again
Taking pictures round every bend
Picking out postcards to send

How about the days when a summer rain
Is tapping on your window pane
Holding hands, walking down a lane
Or feeling like you'll go insane

Singing loudly in the shower
Seeing dew drops on a flower
Hearing a clock chime on the hour
Drinking cold lemonade sweet and sour

Flip-flops, snow boots, (bare-foot is best)
Finding treasures in an old wood chest
Reading books for hours, not stopping to rest
A much needed nap when you're tired or stressed

Swinging high in a big rope swing
Hearing the wind whistle and sing
Puffy white clouds with blue sky in between
God's perfect touch on everything

The days that are happy, tears leave no traces
Seeing a smile on so many faces
Coping with days that are sad in some places
As you remember your late grandmother's lipstick and laces

Warm soup cooking on a winter day
A blanket of snow shoos the darkness away
Do you hang onto times when you kneel down to pray,
And, "Thank You God for Your mercy!" is all you can say?

When a funeral happens, two dates are seen
The birth date and death date with a dash in between
In the end it's the dash, that's where we should glean
Loving life yet always on Christ we should lean

He's the One who makes bad days not seem so drear
The One who's a Comfort to always have near
Making promises so precious, being always sincere
Warming hearts with His grace that is, to me, ever-dear

So go ahead, you can live, laugh, and love
Praising the Merciful Creator Above
Be filled with His peace that comes like a dove
And treasure those moments that Real Life's made of

One last Wintry Day

Once upon a time there was rather alot of snow in these parts....now that story has ended and the snow has left without leaving so much as a snowflake for us to remember it by. Friday was the last of it....all day we watched it melt until it was g-o-n-e. Simple as that. But we did not complain, we savored it while it lasted. I never thought that the last wintry day would be quite as pleasant as it turned out to be. It was filled with such magical happenings that I could only smile and thank God for being so merciful and kind to give us Beautiful Life to enjoy. I was able to share it with two of the sweetest little darlings I have ever known, my cousins Maggie and Anna. Theres just something special about watching starry-eyed children run about in the splendor of winter-whiteness. :)

Just in case you're wondering, Yes those are Elvis teddy bears and yes these girls are freezing cold and yes they are enjoying every minute of it :D

After they had played for several minutes...we headed to the dairy to get some milk and "O-gurt" as Anna calls it :)

Then, while we were driving home we saw a super cool tree in the middle of a pasture and I just had to stop!

THEN.....yes, this day just kept getting better....We traveled a few more miles down the road and saw in another pasture two BEAUTIFUL horses and The-Most-Adorable-Donkey-Ever. :D Once again....I had to stop. :)

Doesn't he make you happy?!?!?! :D

Seeing the reflection of snow on the ground in the big shiny eye of a GORGEOUS horse....its pretty breath-taking if you ask me :)

: D HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY :D

Snow has left its mystical wonder on us and skipped away happily....now, I am SO ready for springtime. :)
Have a blessed Lord's Day y'all. :)

Much Love

Austin, Texas...what a lovely place :D

Austin has been a favorite of mine ever since I can remember. My twin cousins, my Aunt Dawn and Uncle Dale have lived there for about 11 1/2 years.

Last weekend I had the great privilege of visiting this wonderful city again on the occasion of the 82nd Legislation at the Texas Capitol Building.  A dear brother in Christ and friend of our family, David Simpson, was sworn into the State House of Representatives as the representative for District 7 on January 11th and we came to be with him and his family. Another great thing about our travels was the fact that we got to drive down with the Greene family! :D

Okaayyy....so, as if it wasn't awesome enough that we were behind the scenes in a real-deal-rep's office....they had M&Ms with HIS FACE ON THEM!!!!! :D You can't get much more official than an M&M!

And the waiting around for the event to begin was made so enjoyable by little Mark Jackson's (Bro. David's first grandchild) smiling face. :)

My Aunt Dawn came with us and was sure glad she did once she got to hold Mark. :D

And of course my Dad couldn't resist the offer to hold him as well :)

Just so you don't think that Mark is the only great thing I saw while there....... :)

Sometimes being in places like this just fill you with the undeniable feeling of, "I'm mighty proud to be a Texan!" :D

Lovely Miss Susanna Joy.....second oldest daughter of Bro. David :) She's grrrrreeeat! :D

And this is Hannah....the youngest of the Simpson bunch :)

Later that day, Mrs. Simpson took us over to their apartment which they will be living in for the next 6 months. This is a rose that was on their table. :)

One of their walls is just one ginormous mirror....super cool! :D

Ahhh! I absolutely LOVE this building inside and out! :D

Btw...The flag was half-staff because of the Arizona tragedy and the fatality of the Federal Judge

My mother was kind enough to actually get a picture of me just so no one imagined that I wasn't really there ;)

Yay for Austin! :D
